NYC Diary & Travel Guide

Hello everyone!

Oh yes, another post about New York. I should change my bio to “based in NYC” instead of Puerto Rico right?… Anyway Spring Break ’15 was certainly an interesting experience because it was as all about exploring New York’s gastronomy. All the way from local favorite coffee spots to exquisite fine dining. Whether you want to lay back and relax, enjoy a wonderful evening full of delicious bites or just get to know the city, here’s the perfect city guide. For specific recommendations feel free to shoot an email or message 🙂

EATS

The Modern – Located inside the MoMA, this is the perfect place for lunch after a long visit to the museum. Recommendations: Cucumber & mint green salad, Pistachio-Stuffed Chicken & the Gianduja Crémeux Wafer Streusel and Nutella Ice Cream dessert. To die for!

Bouley – Beautiful deco french fine dining room. (even the bathroom is gorgeous) Recommendations: Ask the baker for gluten free hazelnut and pistachio bread, then choose the six-course menu. No regrets, I promise.

ABC Kitchen – Super nice eco-friendly spot around Union Sq. and the best part – everything is cooked with local organic ingredients. Recommendations: farm egg pizza & apple ginger cocktail. Skip dessert and have another cocktail 😛

Daniel Boulud – The waiter took us to the restaurant’s kitchen so we could have a sneak peek of how the pastry chef decorated every single plate before delivery. Excellent service and the kitchen tour was just amazing. Recommendations: Grappa Flambéed Hudson Valley Foie Gras: Chilean and Mojave Grapes, Pistachio Pink Peppercorn, Pickled Cape Gooseberry, Artisanal Cheeses from around the world. Dessert: Pistachio or Chocolat. #amazing

Eleven Madison Park – 14-course prix fixe menu is the way to go. Absolutely exquisite. (plus restaurant’s souvenir granola is the best I’ve ever had).

Gina La Fornarina – Prosciutto and fig pizza. Simply the best. Even better when paired with the passion fruit cosmo!

SIGHTS & VISITS

Yves Saint Laurent + Halston Exhibit – The FIT Museum should always be at the top of the list. There’s always something interesting and educational going on. Mind blowing retrospection getting to see Halston & YSL creations from the 70’s! Still, can’t decide who I enjoyed the most…

Finding Neverland – Starring Matthew Morrison. Enough said! Best Broadway show E-VER!

Gigi on Broadway – Saw Vanessa Hudgens as Gigi for the first time. Such a dreamy and fun performance. Perfect for a family day trip!

American Two ShotMy favorite store in SoHo because of its insanely good coffee bar. Exclusive designer findings and great Nicaraguan coffee (Café Integral)… What else could you ask for?

Assouline – Looking for fashion and luxury books? This one’s a luxury library located at The Plaza Hotel very nice to hang around. Then go visit the Plaza Food Hall for some treats!

Whitney Museum of American Art – From Jeff Koons to Mary Heilmann. The Whitney has it all. Heilmann’s “Sunset” installation is currently the Museum’s largest outdoor gallery. Must-see!
