Fashion NYFW

Dear NYC, Happy Fashion Week!

It was a cold Sunday in NYC. I woke up at 10am since we had a brunch reservation at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain. Bennys and mimosas for the win! It was absolutely delicious. Great start for a great day ahead.

After having brunch we went to Lincoln Center for Custo Barcelona’s “Shake before use” Fall 2015 collection. Capes and ponchos in exotic tribal prints were all over the place. Inspired by the era of silent movies, Custo paid special attention to geometrical details and origami garments. This is why it turned out to be my all time favorite collection!

We had the opportunity to go backstage and take a closer look. Subsequently, I had the chance to greet Custo and his wonderful team. More than two years have now passed since I interviewed him for the first time at the Puerto Rico High Fashion Week back in 2013. It was nice to catch up again!

Just like that, we went back to the hotel to change for the next activity – “Matilda the Musical”. We ordered room service and then headed to Times Square for the Broadway show. Really enjoyed the play, it was hilarious and very faithful to the movie.

The next day, was my last day at the city. Luckily, the plane was leaving at night so we had all day to stroll around Manhattan. Dennis Basso‘s Fall 2015 collection was the last show. Fur, fur, and more fur. It was a very sophisticated and chic collection. Not-so-perfect for Puerto Rico’s climate, but absolutely flawless for a winter weekend getaway in the city.

After the show, we had brunch at LAVO. I had fettuccini seafood pasta and the 20-layer-cake dessert, for the table. It was such a much-needed family weekend. Finally, it was time to go back to my beloved island, Puerto Rico.

So long New York… Happy Fashion Week!
